Club Rules & Policies
A Few Important Club Rules
The club does has a written constitution which lists all the rules of attendance. We would like to highlight here a few of the important rules that last summer we felt weren’t clearly understood by some of our more junior members. We would ask all parents to make sure their children are fully aware of these rules and that they are followed at all times:
-
Supervision
Children left at the club without parental supervision need to remain within the track perimeter unless involved in the supervised cross-country run. Children may not participate in cross-country training until the consent form is signed and returned.
-
Timeliness / Warming Up
It is essential that children arrive on time to participate in the warm-up at the start of each session. Failure to do so may result in muscle strain, especially during the winter months. Please arrive in time to sign in before you warm up. The importance of ALL athletes warming up cannot be emphasised enough. If your muscles are not warm before you start serious training, you risk straining or pulling a muscle. Seniors in particular are expected to set an example to others.
-
Food
Food (sweets in particular) must not be eaten during training sessions.
A snack before training would be most beneficial but should be consumed no later than 2 hours before the session begins i.e. no later than 5pm. It is best if the snack consists of easily digested foods such as pasta. Many children find a banana a good source of energy.
-
Drinks
All children should attend with a bottle of water throughout the year.
-
Clothing
We recommend that long tracksuits are worn as the track is a rough, hard landing and during the winter legs should be covered to prevent muscle strains.
-
Mobile Phones
Any mobile phones that are brought to training should be handed in to a coach at the start of training so that they do not become a distraction.
-
Music
iPods etc MUST not be used during training.
-
Child Protection Officer
The child protection officer for Holland Sports AC is Tanya Shaw.
Track Discipline
-
Pay particular attention when crossing the track as athletes running at speed cannot stop.
-
When athletes are hurdling do not walk across their path or shout at them. It is important for the athlete to be focused when hurdling.
-
If you are on the track and someone behind you shouts "Track!" it means move out of your lane towards the outside of the track to let them through.
Child Welfare
The club attaches great importance to ensuring that the children who take part in its activities have a safe and positive experience. The club's child welfare policies may be read by clicking on the links below:

Photographs of Club Members
Photographs of members of Holland Sports AC competing for the club may appear on this website or be posted on Google's Picasa together with their names (unless they are juniors, in which case no names are given). Both are open to public viewing. Any members of the club who do not wish their photos to be published in this way should let us know by email.
