About the Club

Holland Sports AC is a small, friendly athletics club situated in pleasant, semi-rural surroundings in Oxted, Surrey, England1. Our teams compete mainly in local cross-country and track & field leagues. We have a particularly strong and growing junior section - both girls and boys - training under the supervision of qualified coaches and competing for the club in various local leagues.

The clubhouse and track (which benefits from flood lights) are located in Mill Lane, Hurst Green. Click here for a map and here for a satellite photograph courtesy of Google Earth.

Everyone is welcome. Come down to the club during one of our Tuesday and Thursday evening training sessions and speak to one of our members. Or get in touch with our head coach Nigel Bongers (telephone 01883 712087, mobile 07710 404122 ) who'll be happy to answer your questions and show you around. You can also email us by clicking here.

Training Sessions

Training sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the year at Mill Lane. The sessions take place from 7pm to 8pm for juniors, and from 8pm to 9pm for seniors. Our aim is to help athletes of all abilities - from beginners to the more experienced - and all ages - from young children and teenagers through to seniors and veterans - to improve their performances in running and in the main track & field disciplines. We have a growing group of qualified coaches to help members achieve their potential.

Co-operation with Other Clubs

Our sister club, Oxted Runners, holds regular Tuesday night road runs around Oxted during the winter, Tuesday evening country runs through the summer, and its members enter a variety of road and trail races across the region, ranging from 10km to marathon. Many compete for Holland Sports AC in the cross-country season. For more information about Oxted Runners, visit their website by clicking here.

1 Why Holland? It's got nothing to do with the Netherlands. Holland is the name of a district of Hurst Green, near Oxted, where the club is situated. It's a common Anglo-Saxon placename denoting cultivated land on a hill.
