Surrey Men's Cross-Country League, Wimbledon Common

Rob Hall won the final Division Four fixture of the season at Wimbledon Common as Holland Sports AC's men's team confirmed promotion to Division Three. A second place finish for the team was enough for them to complete the season in first position overall in Division Four.

Surrey Men's Cross-Country League, Lloyd Park

The club's men's team retained their position at the head of Division Four of the Surrey Men's Cross-Country League after finishing in third position at a muddy Lloyd Park, Croydon in the third of the four fixtures. First back was Andy Dunstan followed by Mick Chappell and 17-year-old Jack Arnold.

Surrey Cross Country Championships, Lloyd Park

At a very windy Lloyd Park on Saturday perhaps the best Holland Sports result was recorded by Jack Arnold. Running in the 8 km Under 20 Men's race Jack, who is only 17, finished in 12th position in a time of 34:51.

Two of Holland's top women runners, Tracey Mustoe and Maggie Statham, were the club's only representatives in the senior women's event, also run over the 8 km course. Tracey repeated her excellent recent form by finishing in a fantastic 15th position, only two places behind leading vet Janet Ray of DMV, recording a time of 36:13. Maggie, who on Saturday belatedly received her medal for finishing as third vet in Surrey League Division Two last season, had a difficult run and struggled round to finish in 33rd position in a time of 38:39.

In the 12 km senior men's race, the seven-strong Holland team, led home by Mick Chappell, finished in 10th (last!) position, but clubs like Boxhill Racers did not even field a team. The individual results were as follows:

103rd

53:45

120th

Paul Bowen

55:52

123rd

Tony O'Brien

Surrey Men's Cross Country League, Lightwater Country Park

Holland Sports had a splendid turnout of 17 runners for this second Division Four fixture at Lightwater Country Park, off the M3. Rob Hall was beaten into second place but his and other great performances meant that Holland finished the day on top of the Division with two more fixtures to go.
