Reports and Results Track & Field Athletics 2006 Season
Southern Men's Track & Field League, Dartford
5 August 2006
At the final track and field meeting of the season, Holland were up against the other three strongest teams in the league and unfortunately we only fielded a small team of six athletes. However, the whole team performed heroically and, although we finished 4th on the day, we were not disgraced.
Everybody played a part, including Nigel Bongers, who threw the hammer and then ran the 1500 metres. Rob Hall did twelve individual events - we are not sure if this is a record but we can't think of any time when someone has done more events. Paul Dyke returned from his holiday and came straight to Dartford to compete. Matt Morgan ran superbly as usual in the long distance events and also did the long jump. Eric Parker also ran and jumped superbly, competing in seven individual events, ranging from pole vault up to 5000 metres.
Finally, Kevin Burnett deserves a special mention. Kevin is in his 60s and performed in six individual events.
The final League positions show Herne Hill as champions with 19.5 points, with Holland tied with Haywards Heath on 17 points but behind them in 3rd place as we scored fewer individual points.
Well done again to everyone who competed for us throughout the season.

Southern Men's Track & Field League, Erith
8 July 2006
Continuing their 100% record this season, the club's men won the last Southern men's track & field fixture at Erith. Particular recognition goes to Rob Hall, who completed eight events, and Mark Andrews, who did seven. Well done also to stalwart Kevin Burnett, who took part in three events. And generally looking through the list of results really impressive results all round. Well done guys. Click here for the full results (PDF format).
This has set up a fascinating finale at Dartford on 5th August, when we will be up against the other leading clubs in the Division, with the top four separated by just two points. Before the last match the scores are :-
Holland Sports AC 16 points
Herne Hill Harriers 15.5 points
Haywards Heath And Lewes 15 points
East Grinstead 14 points
Any one of the 4 teams can still win the Division and we must be on top form for the last match if it's to be us.
Southern Men's Track & Field League, Tooting
3 June 2006
At the third track and field meeting of the season, Holland's men once again finished first on the day and now have a maximum 12 points. This puts us in 2nd place in the league behind Haywards Heath and Lewes AC, who have scored more individual points than us.
Once again there were many very good performances, but, as before, the opposition was a bit patchy. Medway and Maidstone AC didn't show, Kingston only competed in a small number of events and Redhill and Surrey Beagles had a very small team.
Well done everyone. The next fixture is at Bexley (possibly Erith) on the 8th July.

Southern Men's Track & Field League, Crawley
20 May 2006
The second track and field meeting of the season, at Crawley, turned out to be a straight fight between Holland and Crawley, as Tonbridge didn't show and Winchester had a very small team. However, this didn't detract from the performances. The team did very well and we won the match by 11 points. Well done lads!
The next match is at Tooting Bec on 3rd June.
